POOL SAFETY CERTIFICATES
As of 1 December 2010, all properties in QLD with pools and spas are required to have a valid pool safety certificate. A pool safety certificate certifies that your pool complies with pool safety laws and standards. There are strict rules around pool fence height, gate latches, hinges, CPR signage among other things. Whether you are living in, leasing or looking so sell your property, you must have a pool inspection conducted by a licensed pool inspector in order to obtain a valid certificate.

POOL INPSECTIONS WHEN BUYING / SELLING A PROPERTY
Since 2010, the QLD government has made it mandatory that all properties with pools that are being sold need to have a valid pool safety certificate OR the seller has to issue the buyer with a form 36-notice of no pool safety certificate for prior to entering into the contract of sale. This form then puts the onus on the buyer to obtain a pool safety certificate within 90 days. At BBPI, we strongly advise sellers to have a valid pool safety certificate when putting their property on the market as it will help negotiations with potential buyers run more smoothly.
